This first is my favorite! I love glass jars and bottles and the butterfly's are magical and sweet!

I am so captivated by the colors and the juxtaposition of casual and older pieces mixed with lovely new and modern items! Or the neutral, washed colors paired with bold and bright shades! I just love these and I hope you do too!

Okay so I have been super busy! And to be perfectly honest not very motivated to sit down and write up posts. I don't know why. I have no explanation for my loss of interest in posting all the little fine lovelies I see. But that has been the case. Maybe it's been the spring and the coming of summer! I have felt very full of my love for tall grass and the the little yellow flowers growing in ditches. I can't get enough of being outside. So I hope I am forgiven.
In other news I have been busy with both my photography and jewelry making! You can now visit Moss and Magnoli a, my new jewelry sh op on Etsy.

And I wanted to share some of the photos I was asked to take this past weekend. I am pretty excited about the way they turned out. The girl in the photo is the daughter of a friend and she was headed for the prom. We have a really neat train depot near where we live and I found the old suitcase at Goodwill. I love them! I hope my motivation to post
again does not take another couple of months. But in all honesty I do this becasue I enjoy it and I never want to post things that are not from my heart! I hope your night is full of fine little lovelies that you can't wait to share with someone!

I just love these succulent arrangements that I found on Olivet. They are from Studio Choo and I want one! Period. Or exclamation mark actually! I also love the pretty flower and fruit arrangement from Studio Choo as well. It's so fresh and lovely. Just perfect for a fun spring wedding! I would love to plan a wedding around this beautiful bouquet.Spring is feeling so wonderful right now! Don't get me wrong I am a huge fan of fall and winter. They are the seasons for family gatherings, warm scarves and cuddling by a fire. But! I can never get enough of cool mornings, bird songs and the sun warming your skin. Flowers falling from the trees and the thought of pink toe nails peeking out of your favorite sandals. I love it! I hope your first week of Spring is full of fresh scents and sweet sounds!

List of "Will Do's" for 2010

A little late but hey better late then not at all! I know there will be more added but for now these are my goals for 2010! I Will...

Take more pictures! On a daily basis. Ones that document my days and capture the things I see.

Call my family more!

Become more bold with my clothing style! Not to change it but have more fun with it. This includes wearing cute tights.

Finish crafts and projects! this includes making homemade cards for thank yous, birthdays, etc. Start a scrap book (I have not done this in so long!)

Get in better shape! and this is linked with buy a cute bathing suite. (I have not bought one in a couple of years!)

Keep my clothes and jewelry more organized!

Try my hand at knitting!

Write! My thoughts. Adventures. Good moments. Good things. a sentence a day maybe?

Make more Jewelry!

Travel somewhere new!

A Little List

I have been feeling a little overwhelmed with inspiration! Is that even possible? I just see things that are beautiful and I want to bring those ideas, projects or designs into my life. I want to learn how to do more crafts and projects! I am working on a goals list for 2010 and the hard part is narrowing it down to something that is doable. Here are a few things that I really like right now. And I am sure a few will show up on my list!

Christmas Snow Flakes

It is snowing out! Started with a mixture of rain and snow yesterday and then the light fluffy flakes began to fall yesterday afternoon! How magical to have snow around Christmas time! I grew up in Savannah, GA so we rarely had snow much less snow falling on Christmas. I plan to take some pictures today but until then here are a few from last year. Today I plan to wrap gifts, listen to Christmas music and watch snow flakes fall! Have a happy weekend!

I saw this adorable cottage on Olivet (wonderful!) and I had to find more. I don't know if the day to day life of living in an old cottage would actually be sweet and cozy but it sure seems dreamy and romantic to think about! Cold weather and the seasons that come with it always make me dream of living in a quaint cottage! I found some very unique little houses around the internet. Aren't they lovely.

Wow! Where have I been!

I have been eating up this sweet little book of, well, cupcakes!

Hello, Hello Everyone! I missed being here so much! I have been very busy working, taking a course for work, having a baby horse, rescuing a sweet pup, baking cookies and cupcakes, welcoming friends babies into the world and making their baby announcements, hiking with my sweets, and searching for the perfect college for him too and so much more! And to be honest I had a few moments there that I really wanted to stop in and say hey but I didn't feel I could keep up with posting and reading comments and just hanging out in the blogging world in general so I decided to wait until I could devote more time. A time out really does show you that this world of bloggers is actually another world. If you are not keeping up it fly's by you and so much can change in such a small amount of time. I think for now I will just post a few photos of what I have been up to and be back soon to share some things that have been inspiring me since I have been back! For now have a wonderful Saturday and talk to you soon!

First my sweet baby Jack! He is beautiful! I arrived at the barn moments after he was born. I was hoping to witness the birth but he was born rather early in the evening and I wasn't there yet. But I did get to help him walk which was wonderful!
His first few days were hard. One of his front legs did not straighten out and curled so that he began walking on the front of his hoof. We had the vet come out and put a splint on him. It broke my heart but it was off in 2 days.
And was soon running and playing in the pasture! Here he is meeting some of the other horses.
And meeting the rest of my babies!
Micheal, myself and the girls (including our new little lady Marley) went to a beautiful garden.
My first baby announcement. I think it turned out rather well. It was done on the spot but she was so cute anything would have looked nice!

I saw this beautifully done DIY wedding on Snippet and Ink and had to share! I love it! It's carnival themed but the bride kept it pretty and feminine at the same time. Everyone looks like they are having so much fun! My favorite part is that her dad surprised her with a box of monarch butterflys to release during the ceremony! And I adore her dress and cake! Enjoy!

I love a photograph that brings little lovely objects and color together to form a beautiful scene! Find these and other wonderful photos at burcu avsar photography! The interiors are lovely as well. A little whinny is on it's way!

Okay so my fun news is that I am having a baby... a baby horse that is! My mom is leasing a mare who we haave wanted to breed to this gorgeous stallion (the hottie below!). The mare is a thoroughbred and the stallion is an Arabian. She is due August 17th and I am so very excited! My mom brought her up a week ago. I can not wait to see if it is a colt or a filly and if she/he will have the pretgy dished Arabian face of it's father!This one makes my heart pound a little!

Hopefully we will have a little baby like this one. This little cutie is one of his offspring.
A very exciting time! This is going to be a long month!

Dream Come True on a Budget!

Hello Everyone! I wasn't sure what would bring me back and make me want to post but I saw this adorable cottage (via Darling Dexter) and had to share. Due to outrageously priced real estate in New York City this couple bought their first home in Sparrow Bush, NY. They spent time renovating and bargain shopping on craigslist and the result is just a dream! Check out that sunroom. It was a garage and was then renovated with salavaged windows and doors! Sunday Reads

I have not shared a book review in a very long while. So I thought I would tell you about two of my recent favorites. The first is Little Bee by Chris Cleave. I really, really enjoyed this book! I have never heard a peep about it and while browsing in the book store I could not help but be drawn to this amazing cover! And then you open the cover to read the jacket and you are met with this...

"We don't want to tell you too much about this book. It is truly special story and we don't want to spoil it. Nevertheless, you need to know something, so we will just say this: This is the story of two women. Their lives collide one fateful day, and one of them has to make a terrible choice. Two years later, they meet again. The story starts there. Once you have read it you'll want to tell everyone about it. When you do, please don't tell them what happens. The magic is in how it unfolds."

Now tell me you would have been able to put that down! And so I will not say much since the jacket pleads with me not to. I will say the two women are from very different worlds. Everything from their country, culture, age, everything is different from one another and the author does an amazing job of alternating back and forth between the two ladies narrating the tale. You are perfectly aware of who is telling a specific piece of the story. Cleave is wonderfully descriptive and unfolds the story in a beautiful and painful way. There are nice touches of humor and plenty of moments that will catch your breath.
The one thing I didn't like is hard to explain and not a deal breaker by any means. Every once in a while in Cleaves efforts to be descriptive or touching or whatever, he becomes obvious or silly in what he is trying to achieve. I don't know if that makes any sense and like I said it does not happen enough to even think about putting the book down!
I give it ♥♥♥♥ out of 5

The second one which I just finished a few days ago is absolutely stunning! You sit down, read the first few lines and the pages start to fly by. Yours eyes gliding over Cormac McCarthy's masterful prose and captivating story-telling! It is beautiful and terrifying! The back of the book reads, "A father and his young son walk alone through burned America, heading slowly for the coast. Nothing moves in the ravaged landscape save the ash on the wind. They have nothing but a pistol to defend themselves against the men who stalk the road, the clothes they are wearing, a cart of scavenged food - and each other."
There is no sun because ash hovers over everything, they walk around with masks and run into terrifying situations that will have you quivering with the thought of actually being there. There are strong biblical themes throughout the book which added a deeper meaning and more interest.
The conversations between the nameless man and son are short, perfect, and poetic. The formation of words used to describe the bleak landscape, horrific encounters, or the moments of luck and hope shared between father and son are gripping and emotionally wrenching. Making you wonder if you could ever exist in this post-apocalyptic world! One review that I read so accurately described, "the word choice and imagery is classic McCarthy yet is leaner and more honed, tighter and in turn more intense. The whole book follows this pattern. No word, not a single one, is extraneous." This last sentence is so true and perfect, because each word is used on purpose!
Some lines I fell in love with...
"The blackness he woke to on those nights was sightless and impenetrable. A blackness to hurt your ears with listening. Often he had to get up. No sound but the wind in the bare blackened trees. He rose and stood tottering in that cold autistic dark with his arms outheld for balance while the vestibular calculations in his skull cranked out their reckonings. An old chronicle."
"By day the banished sun circles the earth like a grieving mother with a lamp."
" He pulled the boy closer.
Just remember that the things you put into your head are there forever, he said. You might want to think about that.
You forget some things, don't you?
Yes. You forget what you want to remember and you remember what you want to forget."

I miss being here though and seeing all the amazing things that people have to post on their own blogs! I am happy that it is now the weekend and I can browse!
A few people asked if I wrote the last post and I did. So thanks so much for the kind comments! I get nervous posting those types of things because they come from a real place and it is hard to put even little things like that out there.

I have been meaning to share two wonderful things I received in the mail recently.
First, I received this beautiful necklace in the mail a few weeks ago and I LOVE it! Cindy Hoo is so talented and makes amazing jewelry with a rustic touch! Her package was so adorable and perfect I almost didn't want to open it! But come, knowing this was inside? I opened! Her is site Here and Etsy Here!

And I was so thrilled to learn that I had won this t-shirt (the cute yellow sun! it says kiss below the sun!)from April at Secondsister Suaviloquy. It is a Ando and Friends shirt and it is so adorable! She is so sweet and has a really fun and touching blog. She also has an Etsy shop where she sells fun and lovely jewelry. I like this one a lot...

A Memory

Our small hands pressed the brown-grey shells together until our knuckles turned white and the hard covering split open between our palms. We pulled out the divided pecan meat while we laughed at the events of the afternoon. Although the soft nuts did not fill our stomachs as a hearty meal would we were satisfied. We could have cracked through an entire bumpy carpet of thick oval shells that lay under their trees and return tomorrow to be greeted by newly laid ground coverings. It seemed as if the mossy trees could have held no more nutty shells yet everyday the ones we had emptied the day before were replaced there on the dirt and grass.
While we laughed and cracked and ate it rained. Only an afternoon shower, light. But long and steady enough to filter it's drops down through the mothering trees, sliding down leaves and gliding around the lush curls of grey moss. We did not move. We stayed and cracked and ate and listened to the wet slip from leaf to leaf to head. The rain trickled through our hair and we tasted the cool drink when we were able to catch some on our flat toungues.
Soon, the clouds drifted past, finding new trees to cover and new upturned mouths to fill. Maybe this time it would see a wood full of pine trees. It's droplets would not struggle through curls and leaves but effortlessly slide down thin needles to a soft bed of fallen brown.
Our hair stuck wet to our necks. Our clothes clung to our backs, our chest, our sides. We felt a chill in the once gracious shade of the trees and decided to move to the space between their overhang where the sun had room to warm the wet ground and our bodies. There in the weedy green, with satisfied bellies and wet tongues, with the sounds of nut shell falling on nut shell, our clothes dried in the sun.

Showing Off!

Biggest apologies for falling off the face of the Earth for a few days! Everyone's comments have been just so unbelievably kind and flattering! You guys really make me so giddy! I especially enjoyed the stories of animal friends that were shared. I was so shocked by some of them! Everything from baby bears to elephants and rabbits, I loved them all! Thank you!
Okay, so where was I? I flew down to Macon, GA (about an hour and a half, maybe) south of Atlanta, GA to watch my 'mazing mother show in the Region 12 Arabian Horse Show. This was a big deal for her and only her second show cantering! She did a beautiful job and we had such a fun time! I love being around a horse show. Plus! There was a dog show (obedience and whatever the other is called. "best of breed" stuff) on the same grounds and my mom used to show golden retrievers so she showed me around and explained what was going on. Anyways, I am back and will have much to post this weekend and next week. Have a lovely Friday night!

I am looking forward to this one! "Where the Wild Things Are" is so classic and special! It looks like they did a wonderful job with the interpretation, making a movie that will allow children to fall in love with this enchanting book and give adults a chance to revisit childhood in a whole new and exciting way!

ilike the weather. near mountains. i could be closer to the beach!

Are you ready because this is crazy... When I was in the 3rd grade I woke up for school with pink eye and my mom was like, "we need to put some eye drops in." I laid on her bed, she grabbed the bottle from her bedside table and let a drop slip into my eye. "Oops, we have to do it again, you blinked." I uncovered my eye with the Kleenex I was using to wipe the wet away and realized with fright I could not open my eye! My mom had grabbed a little bottle of fake nail glue that looked exactly like the eye drop bottle! We rushed to the hospital and they cut my eye lashes off and slowly unglued my eye. I had to wear a patch for like 2 weeks. It was the first time I ever saw my mom cry.

What is a charity that is close to your heart?

Easter Egg!

I have fond memories of Easter eggs at my gramma Charlotte's house when I was young. My brother, sister, mom, and I would go over a few days before and my gramma would have the egss boiled and ready. We would poke small holes in them and blow out the white and the yolk. We didn't dye them though, we drew on them. It was so interesting to see what everyone would come up with. She had markers in all sorts of colors and sizes and when we were done we had a bowel full of unique, personal, and colorful eggs! She kept many of them over the years with dates on them. I loved going over on Easter and looking back at all the drawings. These memories and egg drawings are precious to me now because Charlotte is gone and I miss her everyday! I am thankful for the memories that simple markers, eggs, and family can make!

Dollhouse

Aren't dollhouses so sweet!? I had one at my Grammas house when I was little. I thought it was grand and dreamy. Little furniture set up as if a real home and you get a wonderful peek into the undisturbed rooms. If this captivated you as a little one then the work of Saskatchewan artist Heather Benning will thrill you and bring little childhood feelings back to your heart!

In an old abandoned farmhouse Heather has painstakingly recreated it's life from the 1960's when it was originally abandoned. One entire wall has been replaced with Plexiglas to embrace the dollhouse feel. I would image you could feel like a tiny person standing at it's step.

Hello! I am home and had a wonderful time in Savannah, as always! I thought I would share some photos with you.
A soon as I arrived I was met by a gorgeous flowering tree in my parents yard! It was almost unreal how soft white and pink it was as I pulled in the drive. Next, I was stampeded by my moms sweet Golden Retriever Penny, my sisters Dotson Tito, my brothers' Boxer Laila (who is staying with my parents for a short time), and the very large Great Dane Roscoe (who is actually my sisters boyfriends' dog and also staying with my parents while he and my sister were out of town)! In the background of the dog crowd was Martha, my parents cat that they have had for so so long! Look at her feet, they are Hemingway cat toes. Her mother, so appropriately named Mittens, was actually found on the side of the road at a horse show when she was a little kitten. I love those toes!

On Saturday I went searching for some pretty things. I found moss drapped trees, azaleas of every color, purple wisteria and hungry bees.

And that afternoon I watched my mom show at a small local show down the street. She is riding Dressage, training level tests. I am so proud of her! She has been so dedicated to me and my sister as we were growing up with horses. She hauled us off to horse shoows all over the southeast and even to Oklahoma a couple of times. Now she is having some fun on the horses. This is Godiva, my sweet (and when I say sweet I mean very stubborn but loving) horse that I rode. She and I worked hard and went to Nationals where we made it to the Top Ten! But don't let that fool you, she is a tough ride and my mom is working hard! She walked away with a first place and 2 seconds! She has a big show this weekend and I wish her so much luck!

I watched The Secret Life of Bees over the weekend and I really enjoyed it! I read the book a while back and was pleasantly surprised at how well it translated into a film. I wanted to share an amazing blog and photographer with you. Ryan Marshall is honest and open in his telling of his, his wife's, and his adorable step-sons journeys in life before a new baby! You fall into a wonderful rhythm while reading his posts! He seems to hold nothing back and I can't get enough! I have actually gone back to the beginning to read forward. This man could seriously just print out these pages and have a book that I wouldn't put down until it left me wanting more. So appropriately titled Pacing the Panic Room, this blog has become a fast favorite.

To top it all off he is a wonderful photographer! To see his work go here. The best work of all, I believe, is the weekly photos of his wife and her growing belly! Musicians and their Music

Hello there. I just wanted to share some things that I find very inspiring and creative. I love finding new music and search for it often. I also really enjoy stumbling upon musicians that really put everything they have into making the music they love! I have found a few musicians on You Tube that I really adore! The two below both have music and/or albums you can purchase (links will be below). But what I find most interesting is that in many of their videos they create all, yes all of the sounds you hear. That's back-up singers and instruments! Very cool!

The first is Julia Nunes. Her site is HERE, where you can purchase a cd or you can just listen to her more Here. The song is actually by Say Anything but I love it. And the second half of the video she lets you know about some concert dates. So if you are anywhere near those places you should go! I am not and that makes me sad.

This next one is Nataly Dawn. She sings with such a sweet voice! She also does some covers and also has music you can purchase or just listen to all afternoon Here. This video is actually a collaboration with her boyfriend (Jack also has some awesome stuff Here!) and they go by the name Pomplamoose and you can listen to and purchase their music Here.

My tumultuous feelings over Time Lapse Lifeline (Maria Taylor)

{Okay, this becomes a bit more than the song but it just kept coming out.}

This song for me is about wanting to do things differently. Wanting to have lived more. To have taken more moments of my life and to have them burned into my heart and my thoughts so that they could be clear and crisp for remembering. I hear it and I feel the tears, and the emotions they carry, at the back of my eyes and sitting in my throat. I have regrets, but even more than the feeling of regrets I have the realization that all the different stages of a life hold with them unique and special moments that do not move on with you. You know, those details that only childhood can bring, or college, or a first part-time job, a first kiss, a road trip with a friend, meeting the one, all those special steps with the one, you get it. I mean sure we have those memories (at least the ones we can recall) but I know those once-in-a-lifetime little moments and laughs and loves do not repeat themselves. This makes me sad. To think of those years and moments gone, except for what my mind strings together into a memory, is just sad.

At the same time, I hear this song and think to myself what a wonderful thing to have the realization to take a breath in those moments and try as I might to store them away accurately for later. I think about all the amazing and once-in-a-lifetime moments that are yet to come, ones that I have not even been able to fathom and create in my imagination. That I have, at every turn, the opportunity for something new and brilliant and worthwhile to happen to me or for me to make happen! I have that, right ahead of me! How thrilling! So I am also happy and excited and filled with hope!

Verve Bath has such moving things to sink your eyes, heart, and imagination into. But the one on my wish list is Words Dance issue 12! I can't wait to get it! Just reading the reviews and the sample they have up gave me sweet chills. I think I may also get some of the $1 poems that the oh so talented Amanda Oaks has to offer. (I read a poem on her blog a while back that I just loved) I love a surprise! Next on my list there would be Fossil Fuels and Bloodlines! Check both of these out, you will not be sorry! Everyone could use some good and new poetry in their home!

Balloons!

do they not bring joy!? so simple. bright colors full of air. tied around a child's wrist. released in bunches to spread and float around before dropping in new places. perhaps tied to it is a note. or a basket attached to carry lovers over landscapes. a simple sign of happy times.

Dreams and Dreams

In my Dreams tonight I hope to be here...
Waiting on the rain to fall. Wishing for a journey to begin.

I hope to travel down rivers and rest in inlets under the stars...
I hope I meet a kind horse along the way. His name will be Maraj and he will nuzzle my side and stand perfectly still while I swing up onto his bare back. We will walk lazily along green paths under moving clouds. Now and then he will feel the need to run and we will gallop through fields. My fingers tangled in his mane and my thighs closed around his barrel, hearing nothing but the sounds of his hooves on soft ground....
I dream we will eventually come upon a field of purple and green. We can rest here for as long as we would like. Perhaps live here between ocean and purple field... This I hope to dream tonight.

I want to plant flowers so badly right now! It is so beautiful this weekend, but I don't trust that it won't be cold again. So I will wait a few weeks more. I have a fairly large patio for an apartment and I want to have the plants and flowers hanging and growing it little pots around my chair while I read! If it looked like this I would be okay with that!

And last but certainly not least I was given this goodie by the the shiniest Pearl (She writes and writes, she is funny, she shares pics of her adventures in life, and from what I read her mom is crazy awesome!)! This one made me so happy because as you know words and thoughts are so important to me. And although I have never considered myself a writer I have greatly enjoyed sharing my feelings, findings, and thoughts with you, however small and simple! Thank you sweet Pearl for thinking of me!

The Horse Ride - a true story

Sunlight shown down through the few maple trees in the field between wood and wood. It lite up her hair gold and made the grass glow a kelly green.

The two horses waded through the thin blades in the small clearing. She led the way on hers, the one more confident. His followed, and he was happy to see the light in her hair.

The morning dew shined the tips of their toes and made her shiver a bit in the shade.

He could see though that she felt content, swaying her hips in a circular motion to the horses four beat walk. As the horse stretched his neck down to quickly break off a piece of the sweet grass with only a slight hesitation in his step, he heard her laugh.

He watched, content to still be following, as she raised her chin and watched the sky moving above them, clouds stretching and bending in the blue.

He was happy to follow so that he would be able to see her face when she turned and said, "This is my favorite day!" And he smiled back as she turned and led them into the shadows of leaves and branches.

Thank you everyone so very much for your Birthday Wishes! It made my day all the more sweet!
I have decided that the 3 words super, duper, and cute are now banned from my posts for the rest of March. I have used it in the last 3 and that is just too much! I don't use them that much in real life to have posted them so excessively.
I also realized that I did not tag anyone. This will be my b day wish, I will not not tag, but I hope others will join in this jaunt down picture folder lane.
And as it turned out I did not get my I Need It size of ice cream. They were closed! Can you believe it! So I went to Starbucks instead. It turned out very neat because the girl overheard me speaking with my dad and upgraded me to a Venti! And she drew a little red balloon with a "Happy Birthday" on the cup! A White Chocolate Mocha satisfied my sweet tooth.

Scream for Ice Cream!

I was tagged by the super duper cute PoshMomma to post the 4th picture saved in my computer. So here it. This is Elusive. He is my moms Arabian that I have shown a few times along with my sister, whose hand you can barely see in the picture. We were actually trying to take some really nice "showy" pictures because mom is trying to sell him. Sad but so.

aaaaand... iT'S MY bIRTHDAY!!!So far 26 has been good to me! Lovely balloons, flowers, books, pizza (just like when you were a kid), and phone calls from loved ones. And right now I about to sprint out the door to Cold Stone Creamery for some Ice Cream and I am talking the I Need It size! YUM-IE people! Then I will top it off, not with a cherry, oh no, but with a 2 hour special of 24 (the bacholor finale will be tomorrow streaming online, so hopefully no one will ruin it for me tomorrow)! Good Times! Love you lots, Emma
