Soft and Secrets

I like this...

She was more than human to me.

She was a Fairy, a Sylph, I don't know what she was - anything that no one ever saw,

and everything that everybody ever wanted.

I was swallowed up in an abyss of love in an instant.

There was no pausing on the brink; no looking down, or looking back;

I was gone, headlong, before I had sense to say a word to her.

~David Copperfield by Charles Dickens

I watched The Secret Life of Bees over the weekend and I really enjoyed it! I read the book a while back and was pleasantly surprised at how well it translated into a film. I also enjoyed all of the actresses chosen for the roles, they did a wonderful job. Here is the trailer and you should check out the soundtrack. It's vert sweet.

A song I loved from the movie! Lizz Wright. Song for Mia.

A few of the quotes I really enjoy...

It was the in-between time, before day leaves and night comes, a time I've never been partial to because of the sadness that lingers in the space between going and coming.

Bee yard etiquette: ... the world is really one big bee yard, and the same rules work fine in both places: Don't be afraid, as no life-loving bee wants to sting you. Still, don't be an idiot; wear long sleeves and long pants. Don't swat. Don't even think about swatting. If you feel angry, whistle. Anger agitates, while whistling melts a bee's temper. Act like you know what you're doing, even if you don't. Above all, send the bees love. Every little thing wants to be loved.

... some things don't matter much. Like the color of a house. How big is that in the overall scheme of life? But lifting a person's heart--now, that matters. The whole problem with people is ... they know what matters, but they don't choose it... The hardest thing on earth is choosing what matters.

... when it's time to die, die, and when it's time to live, live. Don't sort-of-maybe live, but live like you're going all out, like you're not afraid (of dying).

Bee hum... It was the oldest sound there was. Souls flying away.

I hope you night (Day) is full of joy! ♥Emma

How wonderful! I'll be sure to add David Copperfield in my list of books to read, my very lengthy list :/ Dakota Fanning is such a talented actress, I look forward to what will come as she ages.

I really enjoyed this movie! I enjoyed the book, too. (I guess I should have said that the other way around, because I did, in fact, read the book first.) The movie was quite true to the book and I think Dakota Fanning did a great job! Queen Latifa rules!

Hope you are well today, Em!

I LOVE the Copperfield quote, and how you matched the pictures to the wonderful words. And this film looks both cute and wise - haven't read the book, either, but your regard is an excellent recommendation! And yay, you answered my Show Your Heart tag! I'm so glad you enoyed doing it, and what a beautiful heart you have - I especially love the picture and what it means for you. xxx

The very pretty model with the triangular croched shawl reminds me of a very young Bernadette Peters!
